Tha M3: Uniting Jamaican Flavors with Raw Emotion in Music

 

Tha M3, pronounced 'Tha-Em-Three,' is an emerging force in the underground music scene. Hailing from Jamaica, this 31-year-old "Rapjay" mesmerizes listeners with his potent imagery and smooth lyrical delivery, seamlessly blending hip-hop with the soulful tones of dancehall, reggae, and R&B. Having already released several mixtapes, Tha M3 has earned a reputation for crafting the most authentic "Jamaican" rap music.

 

His latest mixtape, "JustOnSomeExtraFeelings," marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration with The BROS Club. Within this 18-track playlist-style project, Tha M3 embarks on a journey through relationships, self-awareness, and personal growth. Tracks like "Girl Song" and "Primetime" showcase his vulnerability and emotional depth, while the title track "JustOnSomeExtraFeelings" explores the complexities of love and longing. Amidst Drake's "Signs" instrumental, Tha M3 candidly admits, "I still love you, when you're down. Even when I'm not around," illustrating the struggles of post-breakup emotions.

 

Throughout the project, Tha M3 offers poignant perspectives on the delicate balance between music, family, business, and love in "Quite Alright." He skillfully flips a sample instrumental from Snoh Alegra's "I Want You Around" to reflect on self-reflection and acceptance. Born Marlon M. Martin, Tha M3 grew up in the tranquil hills of Manchester, Jamaica, raised amidst the embrace of both his father's and mother's families. As the eldest child, he nurtured his love for reading, music, and the arts. His musical journey took flight during his later school years, where he penned countless rhymes, engaging in freestyle battles and honing his craft. One memorable moment was freestyling in a physics lab full of students, followed by a triumphant victory against a twelve-member group in a freestyle battle, which garnered him some degree of recognition.

 

After years of working in Kingston, Jamaica's vibrant capital city, Tha M3 returned to Mandeville and immersed himself in Open Mic events, connecting with local talents like Amsha Morgan, Britton Writes, and Ijasol. This fruitful collaboration motivated him to refine his unique style further. With dozens of tracks, features, collaborations, and five mixtapes already under his belt, Tha M3 is now embarking on releasing a plethora of official new music.

 

In partnership with The BROS Club, Tha M3's first single, "Online Girl," is set to release on April 17, 2022.
